2020/21 - Looking Back
As the 2020/21 academic year has come to end, we want to conclude it with a huge thank you to all the amazing individuals, including all the company representatives, PhD and postdoc students and professors as well as all the companies that helped us organise a range of amazing events.
Despite the difficult circumstances we managed to organise more than 15 events throughout the academic year as well as an Apply with AUWISE and a PhD week. The student response was amazing, and we are delighted we were still able to offer so many opportunities during these though times, when many aspects of life we considered normal were strictly limited.
However, we are aware that none of it would be possible without cooperation from different individuals and companies. With that in mind, we owe a great thank you to all the following:
- Emerson
- EY
- AMTE Power
- The Net Zero Technology Centre
- EQUATE Scotland
- Ms Ashley Llewellyn
- The Aberdeen Centre for Health Data Science and Ms Katie Wilde
- NovaBiotics Ltd and Dr Deborah O’Neil
- Creshia Jones, MEng
- Prof Bedour Alshaigy
- Marks & Clerk Intellectual Property Services, David Murray and Stefanie Glassford
- Prof Bettina Platt
- Dr Marie Šabacká
- PhD students Sarah Barakat and Serena Simonetti, Dr Shima Abdullateef and Dr Gordon Waiter
Thank you for your enthusiasm and participation, each event was unique and inspiring in its own way and we enjoyed every single one.
Thank you to all of those that attend any of our events as well - we hope they helped inspire and encourage you on your academic and career paths.
Despite the fact that we have to say goodbye for this academic year, this is by no means the last you will hear from AUWISE – we are already planning a new set of exciting events and opportunities for you and we cannot wait to share them very soon!
Until then, enjoy your well-deserved break, we cannot wait to see you (hopefully in person this time) in September!
Keep your eyes peeled for a recap of the highlights of the past year and an introduction to our 2021/22 committee!

Our experience

Up next to share their experience is our Secretary, Daniel Thompson.
"I am a third-year chemistry student. The role of secretary had a variety of duties including organising events, booking rooms, completing forms and applications for AUSA, doing the minutes for meetings, and dealing with correspondence like emails and messages.
The role helped me develop my communication as well as time-management skills as you really had to communicate with your fellow committee members and I had to manage my time effectively with studies also. It was a really fun experience and I met a lot of really fantastic people."
If you are interested in this or any other of the roles send
us PM with a short description of you and why you would
like to apply for this role.
Just a reminder that the application finishes tomorrow

me develop my communication as well as
time-management skills. If you are interested in
this or any other of the roles send us PM with a
short description of you and why you would like to
